Do you know how many actually stick to the blood transfusion? Very few. Many "sin" and according to our elders it's very common to be "weak" at that point and give in. They practically recommended that course of action to me when I said I didn't agree with the teaching.

Do you think Witnesses would drink the "Cool-Aid" if told to do so...like Jonestown?
by Witness 007 injonestown 1970's, jim jones brainwashed his 900 member cult into committing mass suicide by drinking cyanide cool-aid.
only three escaped.
{the smart ones} one man hid under a building....another escaped into the jungle while armed guards dragged another member to get injected by force.

Question for IT experts.
by badseed inassuming that everytime i connect to the internet i'm in a different location ex:starbucks, mcdonald's, coffee shop, etc.
i then get a different ip address everytime (right?).
ex: i go at starbucks, get an ip address, sign into google using [email protected] (send a few emails, post a few comments) then logout and go to the mcdonald's a few blocks down the street and connect.

As said, there is a LOT of information that is potentially retrievable if you have enough power. Depending on your level, there are people that do this for a living, they're called white-hat hackers who do it with permissions (eg. to test the defenses), black hat hackers who do it without permissions (and usually low-level targets for fun and money - they also occassionally get caught) and spies (and 3-letter agencies) in cyberwarfare and they've had years of training and are usually backed by a large enough hand behind them that even if they are found out, nobody will hurt them.
Just changing your MAC address will NOT help. Your system also has a certain fingerprint and given enough logging, you can match that with a certain amount of certainty. So you need at the very least untraceable burners.
The matter of fact is that even civilians have very good sattelite and other reconaissance by either large companies (Google (Maps, Street View, Latitude, ...), Facebook (Location API and Facial Recognition), ...) as well as amateurs have access to drone's and small (toy) planes with camera's, GPS, cell phones, HD camera's in wrist watches and glasses. Imagine what a well-organized manhunt could have access to.
There are off course a lot of low-level criminals that get away with a lot (murder for instance) but those are usually inconsequential to the rest of the world. Given enough resources and will power others are easily found out (try building a nuclear fusion core or large enough explosive device in your basement without getting noticed).

who does the society consider as apostates?
by booby infrom their literature as source.
i did some searching and was surprised that i couldn't find them referring to those who simply quit and/or speak their doubts as such..

According to the last WT it's clear that apostates are:
- False Teachers
- Anyone that has rebelled or turned away from their religion
- Anyone that tries to turn away their disciples
- Mentally diseased people

Yes, TECHNICALLY, all your data is collected somewhere and TECHNICALLY Google could know if you were both users.
Your Internal IP/MAC address would be collected by McD however as I doubt they give you a public IP. Google knows the public IP and your account. The other McD MIGHT or MIGHT NOT be connected over the same VPN to a McD concentrator (in order to be more efficient at logging your information, collecting it for advertisements and legal reasons) that uses a common ISP so you MIGHT have the same public IP address. It doesn't really matter actually, all Google sees is a connection from McD. McD however might have control over the DNS etc. and could intercept all traffic so they MIGHT be able to see your laptop and correlate it with security camera's etc. (that's if you go into forensic IT)
To do it correctly (you're trying to be anonymous) you may (in order of what's better)
a) Use SSL for all traffic so McD can't intercept your sessions with Google.
b) Use TOR or another system to tunnel your traffic all over the Internet
c) Use private VPN's through a few hacked hosts in several countries with logging turned off to tunnel your traffic.
d) Don't be at a public place with security camera's
--
a) Will protect you when interfering with most non-malicious organizations (your grocery store, the bakery on the corner)
b) Will protect you when interfering with medium-to-large corporations (McDonalds, Watchtower)
c) Will protect you when interfering with public government (FBI, IRS) and larger US-based corporations (Microsoft, Google)
d) Will protect you when interfering with private government (NSA, CIA) and the largest multinational corporations (Bayer, Monsanto)
Nothing will protect you when you're interfering with enough money to put a dent into the economy or messing in government wars (like Wikileaks-level).
The best thing to do is wardrive with a stolen and cleaned laptop, change your MAC address (it's possible and simple to do in software - Linux OS just allows you to type a new one in) and use several open WiFi points you hack with custom firmware so it doesn't log anything from your car or van (best stolen just in case). Then burn all of the possible evidence, your clothes, your disguises and then take the laptop's hard drive out in order to destroy with self-made (not bought) thermite. Also, don't use credit cards or do anything else that you would habitually do on the Internet, it can all be traced back technically and with enough power into each of the corporations that tracks you for advertisement purposes. Stay away from camera's and don't look up, wear a cap and sunglasses (so satellites and drones can't identify you), use several counterintelligence techniques to lose tails and be away from all RF transmitters before destroying evidence, use GPS and cell phone jammers, walk through the woods for several miles before getting back to your own home and MAYBE they won't find you.

I sent it off to my lawyers as well, I'll let you know. It's based on the above:
I was until recently a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. As you may or may not know, it is a very closed religious community where even minor offenses against their interpretation of the Bible can result in disfellowshipping and subsequent shunning. Last Sunday (September 11th) members were informed by the leadership through their publication the Watchtower to regard all ex-members as "mentally diseased" and we are to be treated as if we were carrying a contagious disease. This even includes any family members who have chosen to no longer attend their meetings such as me.
I find it highly offensive some of our ex-members (which includes me) are labelled "mentally diseased" because we no longer choose to peddle their magazines and many like me have seen many things in the organization that make us turn away from it. I am not against any Witness personally and my wife and her family are still members.
In attachment the Watchtower (normal and 'simplified' edition) in question. Paragraph 4 on page 10 lays the groundwork with the notion that false teachers are apostates and the foot note mentions "Apostasy is a rebellion against true worship and an abandoning of it". Thus all that are rebelling against or abandoning their version of 'true' worship (which they imply only Jehovah's Witnesses have this 'true' worship) are false teachers if they attempt to share their religious ideals with others. Paragraph 6 on page 11 of the simplified edition (or page 16 of the standard edition) then mentions "The Bible says that apostates are mentally diseased and that they use their teachings to make others think like them.". Paragraph 7 goes on to mention "We do not speak to them or invite them into our houses. We also do not read their books, watch them on television, read what they write on the Internet, or add our own comments about what they write on the Internet." (quote from simplified edition, standard edition has similar wording). Since then my wife's family has followed the advice to no longer speak to me and even my wife is attempting to limit contact between me and her and our newborn child (2 months old). I believe others will do the same thing for risk of being disfellowshipped (and shunned). I do not care whether or not anyone makes the personal decision not to talk to me anymore however I find it hard to accept that a large worldwide organization can incite others to what is basically acts of hatred based on choice of religion. I was wondering whether this is acceptable 'free speech' from an organization (or any religion) and whether there is a way to either have them retract this statement or publicly apologize and rectify this in communications with their members. Can they be legally held responsible for such statements? I am also a citizen of Belgium (the EU) although I live in the US. If there is no legal recourse in the US, is there any way to get the ECHR (European Commission for Human Rights) to look at this issue? -

WRM: Watchtower Resistance Movement
by ekruks inwhen france was invaded by the nazis, they established what was called the french resistance, which attacked the nazis.
the cause was to fight evil, so it was called a guerilla movement.
in each town, rebels would meet together secretly and sabotage the nazis, doing things such as blowing up railway lines, though they didn't attack civilians who were oppressed.. i don't see for us to fight the individuals in the organisation, because many of them are just misled, confused, brainwashed.

Many of the above things are or have been done.
1) Inciting to violence or doing illegal stuff should never be done. Any organized action (whether from churches or ex-witnesses) only strengthens their faith that they are doing the right thing.
2) You have to get a message across without offending their belief system. This is best done on a one-on-one basis. Again, see point 1.
3) You have to get a message across privately. This is hard as there is continuous control. If you don't do it privately, many will not respond because they are being viewed by others. Many ex-JW have the feeling somebody is always looking over their shoulders even after many years, in the cult it's even worse.
Your points have been made before in protests and to WT leadership however they are summarily ignored. Your standard response to those demands:
1: It's scriptural, God above men, God above health, God above life, WT tells you what God wants - whether or not you feel that is right, see my point 2.
2: It was addressed in 2002. The rest we follow the scriptures, see response 1.
3: Personal conscience matter, God sees all, God leads WT, such persons do not bring God's spirit blah, blah, blah, we follow the scriptures.
4: JW's are the happiest people on earth. What are you talking about? The WT says so, Jesus says his followers would be happy so we must be happy.
5: God will work things out, God sees all, God leads WT, such persons do not bring God's spirit.
What you need to do is show them point blank where the WT is currently lying. Sometimes you can do this on the scriptures, other times you have to give them private information beforehand so it can simmer and they can't hear from the platform how great this new arrangement is. The ATM's in the Assembly Hall is one of those things. Blood is another thing if you can back it up in very simple statements. Participation as an NGO in political organization (currently 1 in the EU).
Again, get them at a point they are away from the org influence for the longest time so it can simmer for the longest time. If you say it right before a meeting, it will be forgotten and/or 'corrected' by the powers that be.

For the board atheists....
by Jack C. inthis is a personal observation and certainly not representative of all atheists.
i enjoy discussions with folks of this persuasion; in general they appear well read and somewhat more educated than many believers.
as a group most atheists cringe and become insensed when discussing the existence of a deity with believers especially fundamentalists.

My point is this (and I have been thinking about this a lot lately). I am an atheist. Doesn't mean I don't absolutely believe in God. If you can prove God, that's fine with me, I can adjust my thinking. The question is can you do the same too? If I disprove God or at least the non-caring of God would you want to adjust YOUR thinking?
However why would a loving, all-knowing, all-powerful God write a book that's hard to read, hard to interpret, easy to interpret wrongly, appears to condone or encourage morally wrong things and thinking. Wouldn't the words magically change or wouldn't somebody be given absolute visible authority to interpret these things? If God exists, why doesn't he reveal himself to us upon request, why doesn't he listen to fervent prayers (the movie Bruce Almighty shows a great point about prayer as well), why do we need to seek him out and have issues seeing it clearly always wondering if we have it wrong? Why does God need (according to the Bible) ~8-10,000 years to fix the issues.
Even if a day is like a thousand years or whatever, if you had a house that is being ruined and violent people live there and you have the power and means to remove them, would you be like God and send 100's of 1000's of people every hour and every minute of the day to "warn" them in order for those people to be killed by them, send your own Son to warn and get killed (as if only your Son being killed gives you legal reason to remove someone from your house) in order to wait a few more days and have more people being killed and have generally miserable lives to kick them out?

I'm still classified as an active Witness (will be irregular by the end of the month) and I'm also an atheist, unsure about the whole God thing.
I also had certain positions within the Watchtower organization and there will be a small (local) shockwave as one of their most important assets for the future has just exited.

Is there anyway to get a consistent high level leak....????
by Momma-Tossed-Me ini often wonder if anyone has a good consistent leak from the top level of the wtbts.
if not how can we get one, one with high level clearance.
they can't want much, probably just another $110 per month or whatever they are getting now, times are tough.. nothing would shake the borg more than consistent correct information coming out early via the internet.. nothing is sacred, all is revealed through a well hidden leak.. mtm.

Any organized opposition will just strengthen their viewpoint on it. They are losing a lot of members, more than they are willing to admit. However they are tightening the noose, "The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through"
